My favorite nude lippies

Happy Saturday ladies!
Is it just me or is there just not enough time in the week to get things done? Anyways I don't know if y'all have noticed or not but I pretty much always have some type of nudey-pink shade on my lips. I find that I have pretty big lips for the size of the rest of my features so I try to nude them out a little bit. I'm extremely picky when it comes to lip sticks/glosses I don't like anything sticky but I don't like when they're overly dry either.
Revlon lip butter in creme brûlée. This is pretty thick and creamy but not sticky. It's like a lip gloss but a little more opaque and not sticky. The color combines with my natural lip color to make a lighter nude pink color.
This is basically the only gloss I like. It's the NYX mega shine gloss in sweet heart. It's really creamy and fairly non sticky for a gloss. Obviously all glosses will be sticky but this one is as close to a non sticky gloss I've come across. Nude glosses are hard to find because they tend to be super sticky and sheer but this one is pretty opaque and smells so good.
This is the revlon super lustrous lipstick in stormy pink. It's a lighter, cool tone pink with lots of blue undertones. It's a lot darker and a lot less of a nude then what I'm used to but for some reason I think that it looks pretty decent on me.
This is a long time favorite. It's the NYX round lipstick in summer love. It's the PERFECT shade of nude pink. The formula is super opaque and extra creamy. It doesn't last that long on the lips though but I love it and its fairly inexpensive.
This last one has been a recent favorite. It's the Mac Pro longwear lipstick in love long distance. It's a semi sheer light pinky shade. It gives my lips a really pretty light pink with a hint of nude and the best part is that I actually lasts!! Nudes are so hard to find in formulas that stain/ or are long wearing but this one does it plus it smells like vanilla.

Back to school: dress up your school uniform

Hi ladies!
Long time no talk. I know I know I'm sorry! High school really is extremely busy. I just finished my first week and it was super hectic. Hopefully ill be able to figure out a good routinely schedule so I can find the time to have posts up for y'all! Anyways today's post is about how to spice up and add your own touch to your school uniform. I know that this might not apply to everyone because not everyone goes to a private school but hopefully this helps those that do. And if you don't go to private school maybe you can incorporate these tips into your school outfits. Obviously everyone's school uniform and dress code is different. Mine is pretty strict but ill share with you things I would do if the dress code was slightly looser. Every uniform probably consists of some type of polo/ oxford, a pleated skirt, crew socks, and loafers. Also, with all these things that I am sharing with you guys I change out daily to match all the other accessories I wear that day. Like one day ill have light pink accessories and the next day I'll have hot pink accessories and so on.
1. Lots and lots of arm candy. I wear a giant stack load of pink bracelets everyday.

2. Big studs. I feel like actual big dangly earrings would look kind of odd with a school uniform because those are more of a fashion statement but studs are always cute and fun.

3. Headbands and hair bows. There are so many cute hair accessories out there! I wear a different headband or hair bow everyday.

4. Necklaces. I wouldn't go to crazy with these. Like no costume type statement necklaces. But maybe a simple monogrammed necklace or a simple, dainty pendant necklace.
5. Rings. I wear the same rings everyday because they are part of my everyday jewelry. They add a little more personalization to a uniform. Once again same as the necklace thing- nothing costumey or statementy, make sure they look nice.

6. Nail polish. Right now I have on acrylics but if I didn't I would switch out my nailpolish either daily of every two days to match my accessories. Use the Seche Vite top coat for a quick drying color.

7. Your backpack! I obviously don't change this everyday but in my school we carry out bags/ backpacks around with us to our classes. I made sure to have a cute backpack to add some pizzas to my uniform.
8. Lanyards. I don't know about your school but we are required to wear our school IDs around our neck. And I wear mine with cute lanyards.

Any other ideas? Xxx Girl with the Pink Bow

Back to school: school supplies haul part two

Happy Sunday girls!
My school starts in two days!! How crazy is that?! Anyways today I have my school supplies haul part two. I have received my schedule and everything but I don't get told what I need for each class until the first day of school so my organization video probably won't be up until Monday.
I needed binders and I decided to get only two 1.5 inch ones. One for A days and one for B days. These are from Office Depot they are the ultra duty by Wilson Jones. They were kind of pricey like $8-10 each so hopefully they last because this is my first year not getting the Staples binders. I got one with the clear folder thingy so I could customize it (left) and one without it(right).
A better look of the inside.
Then I was at Target and I saw these beauties. And of course I had to get them. They are only 1 inch binders and were only $4 each. Ill probably end up using one if I have a certain teacher that requires one binder for only that one subject.
I got highlighters and sticky notes for marking important stuff in textbooks. I usually only keep the pink ones with me. The sharpie skinny highlighters are my all time favorite highlighters. They're literally the only ones I use.
I bout two book covers for my textbooks but I need at least two more because I have so many textbooks. And I got a giant flower magnet from Hobby lobby because I told myself I wasn't going to decorate my locker this year but of course I did.
And then all the random stuff that I will probably not use.

What are you essentials that you think I should've bought but haven't? Xxx Girl with the Pink Bow

Back to school: backpack dilemma part two + help me decide!

Hi ladies!
With flash
Without flash

If you read my post about my whole backpack/purse dilemma a couple posts back then you know my whole inner fight about wether I wanted to use a backpack or a purse or a combination of both. It was really hard for me to decide and figure out because I over analyze everything. I finally narrowed it down to two options and I have no idea which one i like better! They are both by Michael kors.

The interior

This is the first one. It's the Michael Kors large ring tote bag in pink Zinnia. I ended up buying this at Neiman Marcus last call for around $200. At first I thought I didn't like the circular handles but it is kind of growing on me. The leather is super soft and I love the shape of the bag. The only thing that I'm not so sure about this bag is the fact that there's not really anything special about it. Like I feel like I could find something like this at Target. But maybe that's just me over analyzing again. I still think it's a beautiful bag. I love how slouchy it looks and I like how it almost has a "drawstring" style so it can expand to fit all my stuff and if I wanted to use it as a purse it could kind of bunch up again. The leather is super soft and the straps are thicker and more comfortable. I think it looks better on me and I like how there is lots of pockets on the inside.

No flash
Interior with flash

The next one is the Michael Kors Jet Set tote in the neon pink color. I love the look of this bag, I think it looks so chic and more expensive. It's made out of the Saffiano leather which is more durable than the regular leather. I bought mine off of Zappos on sale for around $200. I love how this bag resembles in shape the Louis Vuitton neverfull. I just wish that this bag was slightly taller. I feel like once it's on it looks semi awkward. I feel like its almost too wide. The straps are also pretty thin which makes the bag slightly more uncomfortable to wear. I am also worried about the straps breaking because they are so thin and I would have to carry around a heavy laptop and textbooks. This one has a more "buisness" type look but I just feel like it looks odd on me. This bag definitely has more room inside of it but it doesn't have as many pockets. I love the brighter shade of this bag even though I am typically not a fan of neon pinks. This one is more of a bright pink then a neon.

I love them both! I honestly can't decide.
They both fit all my things very comfortably. Which one do you think I should use? What are you going to be using? Xxx Girl with the Pink Bow

Back to school: DIY personalized planner

Hi girls!
Today I will be sharing with y'all I quick DIY that I did to my Lilly Pulitzer agenda. Don't get me wrong I LOVE Lilly prints but I wasn't feeling any of the prints that were on the agendas this year. I also felt like more and more people were getting the same Lilly agendas. I still loved all the cuteness inside the planner so I decided to purchase it anyways even though they are more pricey than your typical agenda. You could do this to any agenda or even notebook it's pretty simple you just have to be patient!
Materials- Acrylic paint, foam brushes, newspaper, tape, an agenda (obviously), a monogrammed decal(mine is from etsy), and high gloss sealer.
Steps:
1. Lay down newspaper over wherever you will be working.
2. Tape the rings of the agenda so we won't get paint on those. Don't worry if you get a little but of paint on the rings, it will scrape right off once the paint dries
3. Then basically you just paint several coats until you get your desired color. I started off with a white coat to get a more vivid color but you could just use the same paint. Make sure you let each coat dry in between. Here is a picture of the process in between coats. I ended up using about 4 coats.
5. Repeat the same process on the back but make sure you don't paint the stretchy band strap thingy! Once it's the desired color be extremely careful with it! Acrylic paint chips off EXTREMELY easily especially when painted in multiple coats.
6. Apply your decal where you want it according the instructions.
7. Finish it off with 2-3 coats of liquid sealer.
8. Peel off the tape and clean up any areas you might have messed up on.
9. Enjoy your planner and plan your life out!

Back to school: versatile wardrobe essentials

Good morning ladies!
School is rapidly approaching and we all know that means no more spending the days in your sweatpants and giant t shirts. As much as I love fashion I still have those days when I get super frustrated because I can't seem to figure out what to wear. I've learned that by having these key peices in my wardrobe I can easily make many different outfits from dressy to casual. The following peices are what I believe you should own in your closet; they should be well fitting and good quality. These are great to look out for while back to school shopping!

Clothing-
1. A pair of thick opaque leggings- these are probably my most worn piece of clothing. I wear them with everything from dressy blouses to sweaters. I personally prefer black bottoms over anything else because I think it goes with my hair. I strongly recommend buying the jcrew pixie pants they're so nice and just so great.
2. A pair of skinny jeans- doesn't matter if they're light or dark wash( or in my case black). These are just jeans and you obviously need at least one pair. Great for school to wear with pretty much anything. You can also use these to dress down a dressier top.
3. A pair of colored pants/ jeans- these are a trend that have been so in lately that they've basically become a staple for me. I own multiple pair of multiple shade of pink (yes you guessed it) jeans and I find myself wearing them so often with a white or grey top of any kind and a coordinating pink scarf or statement necklace. You could go with any color but I would stay away from anything too tight because the color will show more then your average blue denim or black jean would. For jeans my favorites are the BDG high rise jeans and the jeans from forever 21.
4. A short flouncy skirt- I have found that the circle skirts flatter my body shape better because they emphasize my small waist but any short flouncy skirt that suits your figure will work as long as its in your dress code. These are perfect for those days where you just want to feel girly and pretty at school. You can easily dress down a skirt with a basic v- neck and some high top converse for school.
5. A basic white t shirt- again whatever cut you want but these can be worn with so much the possibilities are endless. I like to have a more casual one like the t shirts from j crew and a dressier blouse like one because this is such a staple for me.
6. An open slouchy cardigan- these have been so in lately and I think they're so adorable! Paired over any summer tank that was out of dress code and you instantly have a cute outfit for school. I like the ones from Brandy Melville.
7. A comfy, long sweater- great for your lazy days with leggings when it gets colder. You always need at least one for the days when your just too tired and want to throw something on. This way you don't resort to wearing an old beat up sweatshirt. I love the ones from Wildfox but forever 21 recently has made some pretty similar.
8. A button up blouse- these are obviously slightly more dressy but you can totally dress them down with jeans and a statement necklace. If you don't want a white one then grab a colored one just make sure it doesn't have any tacky high lows or funky cut outs or anything. I prefer the j crew blouses and old navy also makes ones extremely similar.

Accessories-
9. Scarfs- lots and lots of scarves. These are such a staple in my closet because you can throw one on with a basic t shirt and leggings and you have a put together outfit. They look great with sweaters in the winter time as well.
10. Statement necklaces- same idea as the scarves. Super easy to spice up and make and outfit unique.
11. Stacking bracelets- these add the extra mile in every outfit. You'll look completely put together just by finishing an outfit with coordinating arm candy. If your style is more preppy and classic (like me) add in an oversize gold watch as well.
12. A monogram necklace- a 1.5 inch one so it makes a statement but a smaller statement then a statement necklace. It's a great personalized, simple touch.
13. Everyday jewelry- jewelry that you would wear everyday. If you haven't seen my older blog posts about it ill link the right here.

Shoes-
I really believe in investing and getting good shoes because you change up your clothes a lot but your shoes remain the same.
14. A pair of shorts booties- I like ones that hit right at the ankle and that lace up. I don't like combat boots and I prefer either a black or pink leather color. If combat boots are your thing then go for it but these are my staple shoes for the fall and winter at school.
15. A pair of nice riding boots- again any pair that look good on you. I like ones that are made for slimmer calves and that  aren't super slouchy. I prefer a black leather color. These will be great for fall and winter as well.
16. A pair of ballet flats- go for a color that will go with everything (nude, black, brown) and a funner, brighter pair( a pattern or bright color). Tory burch makes really comfy ones. You obviously need these they're so basic and go with literally everything.
17. A nice pair of sandals- I prefer the tory burch ones in a color that will go with all your outfits. These can be dressed up and down and are perfect for early fall and spring.
18. A pair of sneakers- I love high top converse I think that they're so girly and vintage looking. You could make them look all hipster like as well but that's not really my style. I like wearing them with leggings and a oversize sweater. Sneakers add a cute, artsy look to any outfit.

Back to school: what's in my backpack/ purse?

Hello girls!
Happy Friday! I know many of you out there are probably treasuring your last moments of summer right now because for some of you ladies school starts for you on Monday. Thankfully I don't start until the 19th but to me that date is still approaching rapidly.

Today I am sharing with you what to keep in your school bag/purse or backpack. Things you should have with you at all times at school. I know most high schools allow you to carry around some type of bag whether its a purse or backpack.

Obviously your going to have your books and binders in your bag. My high school also requires you to bring your laptop as well. Also always keep your agenda with you at all times. It is essential to being on top of all your assignments and tests. Bringing a book is also a good idea if you end up having free time and have already finished your homework.

I would also keep a pencil case with pencils, pens, 1-2 highlighters, and post it notes. For me these are my most used utensils; items I would use every single class. I would keep those handy.

I'd also have a seperate pencil bag with colored pencils. I don't like to keep these in my main pencil case because they tend to get in the way when I'm trying to find something and I don't need them as frequently.

I would also keep a small wristlet in your bag with money, cash, and change. You never when your going to need to buy a coffee or drink or maybe even a snack. I would recommend a wristlet that can also fit your phone so after school if you want to go anywhere with your friends afterwards you don't want to be lugging around your bag with all your textbooks.
I'd also have a makeup bag with q tips, mascara, eyeliner, concealer, blotting sheets, a roll on perfume, hair ties, bobby pins, colgate wisps, a phone charger, a tampon, and band aids. This is the makeup bag with all of the emergency stuff. Things you might not need everyday frequently but items that are good to have just in case. You never know what your going to need some days.

If your bag has a pocket I would recommend putting the following in thier- your everyday lipstick and/or gloss, hand sanitizer, hand lotion, earbuds, and gum. These are the things that you will constantly be reaching for every day and you don't want to be digging through a bunch of stuff when you want to use it.

Always have some type of bar or banana with you just in case you don't like the school lunch or your caught  up in something and have to stay at school later. This way you won't be tempted on snacking on chips or candy bars from the vending machine. It's also a really good idea to resist soda from the vending machines as well. Even if its diet (trust me I know how afflicting diet coke is) it's still SO bad and harmful for you. Try using the crystal light drops instead! The strawberry lemonade ones are so delicious and they're so much healthier then diet coke. I also like to try to bring a water bobble so that way I can just refill it with fountain water because it has a filter and for some reason all water besides bottled water kind of grosses me out. But to be honest most of the time I just drink bottled water and buy more bottles at machines and lunch. I found it so much more convenient then waiting to fill a whole bottle of water in between classes.

Back to school: my tricks on getting ready quickly

Good afternoon loves!
Going back to school we obviously don't have much time to get ready everyday. Especially if your a high school athlete and have practice in the mornings they defiantly don't give you as much time to get ready as you would've had in the summer. And on top of that their are going to be those nights that your going to be up super late studying and your going to want your sleep! I don't know about you guys but I always want to look put together and I won't be able to concentrate on school if I'm worried about my appearance. My advice is to have a go to makeup routine. One that you know exactly what products work and that are fool proof. If you continue to do this routine then you'll get really good at it therefore making your getting ready process quicker. My go to routine is BB cream, many many many coats of mascara(I have super short eyelashes), some eyeliner and a nude lip. I recommend getting a good mascara (or in my case mascaras). If you really pump out your eyelashes and curl them then this will open up your eyes and make you instantly look more awake. My favorites are Loreal voluminous and Maybelline falsies. These are great because they give you nice thick dramatic lashes in a pinch.

I would also recommend something similar to a BB cream or tinted moisturizer. They're basically fool proof because they will never look thick or cakey and they just kind of smooth over everything and even out your skin tons. My favorite is they super BB blebish balm

I am also a huge fan of heartless hairstyles! My hair naturally goes into waves but if yours doesn't then the night before just put it into two braids and the next morning you'll be left with gorgeous waves! That way you don't have to waste time to do your hair in the morning and the hairstyle is heartless which is so much better for your hair. If your not into the crimpy waves look and like more of a curly wave I recommend twisting your hair up in two socks, one on either side of your head and then tying the ends. This will leave you with more of a curlier wave. Heat less hairstyles are perfect for school.

Taking care of your skin is really important. I don't care how late you stay up studying always wash your face and take of your makeup. Your skin will thank you I promise and you'll have to spend less time in the morning trying to cover up zits. The ponds makeup cleansing towelettes are my absolute favorite for removing makeup because they are super gentle and remove all my makeup thoroughly. If your really too tired to do anything else at least use one of these every night.

I don't know about you guys but I always spent the longest time trying to pick out my outfit for school. I don't have this problem this year because ill be going to a private school but make sure you choose your outfit the night before. That way when you wake up you can just throw it on, take out your hair from the braids(or socks), and put on the makeup that you've already gotten really fast and efficient at applying and run out the door!

Outfit of the day: summer forever

Hi beauties!
Today I have a quick outfit of the day for you guys and I know this isn't a back to school post but another post will be up later today. Even though I love the back to school season and school supplies I will admit that I am a summer girl. I love sunshine, shorts and bikinis. I wish summer could go on forever. It's my favorite season for sure. Summer in Texas is hot hot hot! So here is what I would wear on a typical summer day.
I love this top! It's the perfect flowy white summer top. It's like the perfect length where it's slightly cropped so I can wear it with high waisted things and not have to tuck it in but it's also long enough I could pair it with normal cut bottoms and show just a whee bit of skin. I paired with these super cool high waisted shorts. They're super distressed and kind of a acid wash pink color.
I added a pink bow and bandeau to tie in the pink of the shorts. And of course a bunch of bracelets! I love wearing a whole bunch of bracelets in the summer I think it's looks so cute and fun!
Top- pacsun
Bandeau- nordstrom
Shorts- urban outfitters
Shoes- Steve Madden
Purse- Betsy Johnson
Bow- American apparel
Bracelets(left to right)- BCBG, Nordstrom, DIY, local boutique, DIY, forever 21, American eagle

Back to school: study tips for success

Good morning lovelies!
Like I said, I am so busy with volleyball lately (by the way I made junior varsity as a freshman!) that its hard for me to keep up with these! However I will try to as much as I possibly can! Today I am going to be sharing with you guys my tips and tricks to stay organized and get good grades for school. I have been a straight A student all my life and my dream is to be able to go to one of the UC schools in California. To get into those schools I have realized my grades need to be top notch. The first thing you need to do is prioritize what you think is the most important. It obviously should be getting good grades because in the long run that is what will get you into good colleges and then get you into a job that your happy with. I have always been a perfectionist so I personally would never be satisfied with anything other then my goal. I have realized that it will take a lot of hard work but I am willing to do it if that means that I can put myself in the position in the future to be able to get the dream job I've always wanted. If there is a job that I really want when I'm older and have graduated but my laziness in high school has come in the way of that I am going to be very upset. So step #1 is to prioritize and figure out what you want to do. If your goals aren't quite as driven as mine then you have a little more room to relax and you'll save yourself a lot of stress. Do whatever makes you happy. Different people will be satisfied with different goals. Then once you have figured out your goals start doing things that will get you there. I am going to share with you guys some of my best tips for success in school.
1. Flash cards. These are essential for me for studying for tests. Tests are what make a big part of your grade whether you like it or not. Writing out the flash cards will help you memorize it and after that you actually have flash cards you can flip through and study for.
2. Stay organized. This is super important for getting good grades. If your not on top of things and constantly losing assignments then no matter what you do you won't be able to earn that top grade.
3. Take care of the little things. Just because tests and projects take up most of your grade does not mean you can just do whatever on small assignments like homework. Get it done. It may be tedious and boring but at least it's not hard and bad homework grades can weigh down your grade quite a bit.
4. Do any extra credit available. Even if you think you won't need it you never know when you will.
5. Pay attention in class. This may seem a little hard because no one is forcing you to do it but this will really help you in the long run. If your paying attention to the information the teacher is telling you in class then studying and doing homework in the future will come a lot easier to you. Take good notes while you listen. This will help you remember them better. I like to take notes in pink so I actually like looking at them and taking them.
6. Review any material you didn't understand THAT DAY. If the teacher is talking about something you don't understand raise your hand or high light and mark it with a sticky note then ask your teacher after class or a classmate about it. Then go home and look over it to make sure you understand.
7. This is that hardest one for me- don't procrastinate! Don't leave things for the last minute because you never know what other things you'll have to do in the future. Time management is SO important for high school.
8. Even though it sucks, sometimes your going to have to give up things that you like doing like watching youtube videos and spending hours online (yes maybe online shopping). You could be using that time studying and getting ahead. Especially if your a high school athlete as well you really have to manage your time wisely. Use youtube and the web as a reward to treat yourself with once you've finished your work!

Keep working hard this year ladies! It's never to late to change your future! What are your best study tips? Xxx Girl with the  Pink Bow
